Biography of AC/DC


Two Brothers named Angus and Malcolm Young formed the band AC/DC in 1973, inspired by Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin mostly, Angus Young made the decision of performing in School's dress as he was just 15 when he had started showing interest in music and his sister wanted him to wear it. They put there first album out in February 1975 called "High Voltage" released by Albert Productions, it included 7 original songs and a cover of Joe Williams' "Baby, Please Don't Go", This album is regarded as one of the first album of Heavy Metal/Hard rock, the album contained some interesting traces of Glam Rock as well, though it was released in just Australia along with there one more album "T.N.T" from December 1975, but after getting good response from "High Voltage" it got internationally relased on May 1976 and won 3 platinums to date, Same thing happened with there another album "Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap" which included about 12 original songs, It got released on May 1976 in Australia but when it was released worldwide on December 1976, it became No.3 in US billboard and won 6x platinums to this day, After there album "Let there be rock"(1977) which became there first hit in U.K. they didn't needed to release in only australia because now they were already popular in whole world, Upcoming bands like Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Saxon and more seemed to be following them. Mark Evans quitted the band in 1977 and Cliff Williams took his place of bassist. There raw live performance made there one of the best live performing band of all time, Released the album "Powerage" in May 1978, Kerrang!(a critic) has listed this album at #26 for the best 50 heavy metal albums. Released "Highway to Hell" in July 1979 which became #8 hit in UK, received 7x platinum and became there one of the landmarks, They were going really great with there unique sound and innovation, But who knew that we were going miss the AC-DC's frontman Bon Scott as he passed away at the age of 33 on 19th February 1980, he about to work with the band for there next album "Back in Black", Since it was going to be good opportunity the band good there new vocalist named "Brian Johnson" who worked with the Glam Rock band Gerodie, They Released there new album "Back in Black" on May 1980, which is also known to be there best selling album ever with over 22million sales only in U.S. about 49million sales worldwide, Released "For Those About to Rock We Salute You" which became #1 album in U.S. and received Positive reviews. "Flick of the Switch" released in August 1983 and produced by AC/DC as well which received platinum. Drummer Phil rudd got replaced by Simon Wright in 1985, Simon Wright also played percussions, While pop/disco had became prominent music taste for the people, the band didn't changed there style and released "Fly on the Wall" in June 1985, which charted at #7 in UK and received platinum in U.S. On 1988, AC/DC got inducted in to ARIA(give link of full form)'s hall of fame for there contribution to Australian Music, They signed to a new record label called "Epic", They released "Blow up your video" under Epic on February 1988, which became #2 on UK and #12 in U.S., and as usual it received platinum award too. They soon changed there label back to atlantic and Now it was there time to have a smashing hit once again, they released "The Razor's Edge" on September 1990, which became #2 in U.S. Charts, #4 in U.K. Charts and not only received 5x platinum in U.S. but Canada as well, it was the album that included there landmarking song "Thunderstruck". With Epic Records, they released there album "Ballbreaker" on 1995, which topped at #1 for Australia, #4 for U.S. and #6 for U.K.

Now the band had there established there message to the world, there live albums are still regarded as one of the best live albums for the decade, they released the album "Stiff Upper Lip" on February 2000 with the label "East West" that became #7 in U.S. and Received platinum award. On March 2003, the band got inducted into Rock and Roll Hall of fame. The last album which they released was "Black Ice", which topped at #1 just everywhere whether it's U.S./Top 200, U.K. hits, Canada, France, Germany, Sweden, New Zealand, just everywhere and received platinum as well with about 5x only in Germany. They released there compilation album called "Iron man 2" on 19th April 2010, which received platinum awards, ranked at #4 in Top 200 and #1 in UK.

The Band has kept it's image and presence always alive and active, like last year they had released there live album "Live at River Plate" on May 2011 which received 3x platinum in Australia, we appreciate it and salute them for there hard and wonderful work.
